Kirman

ORIGIN

Iran

DATE

Circa 1937. I say that because that was before the British occupation. It has the old weave. But it's a later style. It is definitely after the market crash and the reorganization of the weaving industry with the creation of Sherkat Farsh.

SIZE

2.12 x 1.20 meters

DESCRIPTION

The ivory field with a radiating polychrome floral medallion, supported by flowering vines, and palmettes, within a complimentary ivory floral border, pale blue floral guard stripes.
Value

The reverse detail showing the knot structure confirms this origin. The design too is what could be described as " millefleurs " often used to identify and categorize rugs which display dense and detailed floral motifs as seen in this example.

The colors are of typical Kirman palette, ivory ground, rose pinky red, and ice pale blue. A good example of its type.

All wool.
