Here represents my other collectable passion - Southeast Asian art. Most of these items are yun wares or lacquer wares from Burma (Myanmar). The complexity in the graphics combined with the simplicity of the item's shape fascinates me. Modern times accepts a mass produced plastic bowl or box as an acceptable container for their foods. Burmese receptacles, sometimes signed by the artisans, are meant to be used, and appreciated as art forms. Anyway, these photos are here to appreciate. They will be passed onto my daughter, I hope. Many of my guesses concerning the history of each item results from my conversations with Burmese and references such as those written by Sylvia Fraser-Lu.
